Hello there, you.

We're beginning something new and it's called "Laundry List". On Sundays I post article type things about happiness, life, good things, or whatever comes. That's been going on for awhile aside from a few wild times of life where posting was more sporadic. Now comes an addition. That means two sweet little things each week:

  1. sunday article

  2. laundry list

These little lists will be about whatever and come up on Wednesday's. The idea for laundry lists began with a paper list I created one day in class when I was not paying attention. I stumbled upon it in my notebook months ago and thought to myself, "At some point I'm going to publish a regular post each week and something like this." It was also inspired by Mrs. Midwest's "midweek listicles". (P.S. If you're into cultivating your femininity or simple living, check her out. She has a blog and a YouTube channel, and I love her.) There's the back-story.

Here are the plans: This week's list is on wonderful things to be grateful for. Next week's will be a collection of poems. The week after that is going to be one of songs. And if you have any topics for lists you'd like to read, send me a lil dm or somethin'.

And here is a photo of the OG laundry list:

Things to be grateful for:

  1. The sun. Its beauty, the flowers it gives us, the cocoa beans it grows that turn into chocolate, how it never asks for anything in return just like a mother.

  2. Words and the images they bring to mind: sweet--pink irises, fairies, candy. Goon--the word you call your best friend when they make a cheeky comment or goofy face. Lemonade--yellow, summer, sundresses that twirl around just right, sandy feet and a glass bottle with a winking lemon on the front, rodeos.

  3. The feeling of being young. It's electric and wild, like sticking your head out of the window when you're seventeen and flying down the canyon. The feeling of being medium. It's both chaotic and cozy, chaotic when the kids are running every which way, one's crying on your hip, one's stuck in a tree, one's in the road, and your husband is at work. Cozy when you're tucking them in and they give you kisses, when you crawl into bed and curl up with your puppy and the love of your life. The feeling of being old. It's worn and soft, like a shirt you've had for years. When you sit on the porch, reminisce, hug, tease the grandkids, put your dentures in, snowbird, play bridge, and repeat it all the next day.

  4. Kisses.

  5. The places that you've been throughout this time on the planet Earth--beaches in far off lands, mountaintops overlooking beautiful landscapes, or the home that belongs to someone that you love, that has them written all over it. That one might be the most lovely.

  6. That you, whoever you are, are a perfect blend. That you have your very own taste in music, clothes, people, colors and shapes to your body that are all yours. You're a miracle, a spectacular miracle.

  7. Prayers

  8. The movies Edward Scissorhands, Practical Magic, Before I Fall, It's a Wonderful Life, and Scooby Doo.
