Hello you cutie, let’s talk Black Friday. I took a trip to Ulta during the sweet snowstorm after Thanksgiving dinner. My, my, my, was it lovely.

It’s come to my attention recently that I have a lip obsession. I don’t wear much makeup and I’m not fascinated or enthralled by any kind except for lips. I love lips. All of my belongings are married to some kind of lip gloss. There are always two in each bag, countless in my car and bedroom, and I suppose it’s because lip gloss is sweet and soft. It’s delicate and dainty, and a treasure only found in a kiss.

Let’s start with the Nivea lovelies. They’re baby tints. Tell me there’s not something lovely about a hint, a tone, a sneak instead of a perfect and full color. That’s just what these shower you with, a soft touch. They’re perfect for a dress-down date—say you’re going for a horse-back ride in the snow, or having a jammy party. When I put these sweeties on, that’s what I imagined: an effortless, beautifully natural touch.

Buy 1 get one 50 % = $2.99 + $1.50

Then we stumbled upon the magnificent 5 for $5.

There was a table full of options to choose from and here’s my selection. The eyeliner is a blast:

I’ve never owned any before, so this has been a wild time. Do you ever wash your face in the late afternoon, let it breathe for a few hours, and then try out a new makeup look before bed so that if it’s awful, no one will see it, but you’ll get the practice? I have that going on as I write this. Next, we have the chubbies. I love a good barbie pink, something spectacular for a wild night. Here’s that one:

Then we have the nude, oh so soft:

And lastly, this little lipper. I call it “The Candy Corn.” Once you run out of the first color, you get the second. Isn’t that darling?

The end of our adventures at Ulta is with this here, lovely gloss collection.

I got sixteen of these cuties for $10, and they’re splendid. Here are a few samples.

Now let’s talk Kohl’s. I haven’t shopped there before, so it was exciting.

I lost my pearls in the big disaster, so these new fellas hold a special place in my heart. I love pearls, you see. They’re my birthstone and I’ll always aspire to be an elegant, pearl-and-evening-gown-wearing beauty. The earrings were originally $12, but I got them for $4.80. And the bracelet set started again $14 and dropped to $5.60. Sheesh!

Next I stumbled upon these sweet flowers. They started at $12 and came down to $7.80. P.S. they’re from the Lauren Conrad collection. I absolutely adore her, and used to have her book called Style. She’s one of my little rolemodels.

I bought a whole bunch of other things from both stores, that I won’t share with you because they’re gifts! If your names are “Mom” and “Grandma”, you’d have found me out. But my total at Ulta came to $51.95 with savings of $34.46. And at Kohl’s we ended with $65.08 with savings of $51.32. My budget was $120 and I spent $117.03, whilst saving $84.78. Oh that’s spectacular.

Here’s to snowy weather, mistletoe, and good luck this Winter. Merry Christmas baby.
