You, a human being, have this magic power inside of you that comes from your mind, heart, and soul: the power to manifest. It is a law of nature that human thoughts manifest physically. Whatever you and I think, feel, and believe is brought into existence. This happens constantly, endlessly, whether you're aware of it or not, and that is why it's vital to become aware of it. If you aren't in control of your own thoughts, your thoughts really are in control of you; they're creating your reality without your permission.
This may be the most valuable post that I ever publish.
It is, after all, about the concept that changed everything for me. There are two distinct acts in the play of my life: the one that led up to discovering this, and the one that followed. This is The law of attraction. This is the secret.
The truth is that you have this immense potential as a human being. You have a purpose. You know your dream self? That person that you want to become so very much? Guess what, you already are that person. Imagine it this way. It's a sunny, summer morning and you're at the farmer's market. This silly old lady that's selling lemons just adores you, she talks your sweet little ears off and you become best friends. You come over on Sundays for dinner. She makes a different kind of lemonade every time you come over and sit on the front porch. Sometimes you weed the garden while she tells you about Johnny. And one night in her sleep, she drifts off on her way to heaven. Soon after, you find a note that's addressed to you. All that's on it are some sweet words, coordinates, and at the bottom, a sticker of a treasure chest.
So you go searching! And where you find X is a humongous tree, whichever kind you most adore. Now, do you walk up to the tree and say "Well goodness, there can't be a treasure here. There's a tree in the way"? No, you look inside of that knot in the trunk. Then, you dig down below, and climb up above to find that the treasure is at the top of the tree. And it's everything you've always wanted. You end up loving that space so much that you decide to build a treehouse around your treasure.
You are the tree. You are at a certain location with some amount of east or west and some amount of north or south. But you see, you are not measured in width or length. You are made of energy, and energy is measured in height. When you feel happy, your energy is up in the air, in the clouds, with the sun. And when you are feeling drab, sad, or mush; your energy sinks down into the heavy soil. And, all at once, you are every version of yourself that you have ever been and that you ever will be. It's always been you, always at the same coordinates, just at a different height at each point in your life.
The law of attraction is a scientific principle that's like this tree story I've made for you. It's the fact that you, whoever you are, are vibrating at a certain frequency--high or low, positive or negative, at every time. You are always the same you, with the same body, same soul, same history, but your energy/frequency shifts.
Remember when you were in science class and you learned that atoms are constantly moving? The table that you eat dinner at and the desk where you sit to paint, to write, to do your taxes, are made up of these itty bitties that shake--all the time. Everything in this world is always wigglin'. When something is cold, it's particles move just a little, and when it's hot, they go wild and dance around everywhere. You are the same way. At this time, you are giving and receiving whichever level of energy you choose to create. When you think negatively, the frequency that you are wigglin' at is low and slow like that of the cold particles. When you think positively, your energy is happy, vibrant, radiant, and high.
The Law of Attraction is defined by the New Thought philosophy as, "the belief that positive or negative thoughts bring positive or negative experiences into a person's life." That means that whatever you are thinking and believing is being returned to you. It's magnetic, babydoll. And this law is equivalent to the law of gravity. It isn't some woowoo stuff that a witchy woo made up in a cauldron. It is scientifically found. That being said, this process does not begin the minute that you learn it exists. It, like gravity, has been happening since the minute that you were born. The person that you are now is a pure manifestation of your own thoughts and beliefs. Every idea that you have about yourself creates who you are. With that comes this wonderful idea that you have the power to become whoever you most want to be. This is what I mentioned earlier when I talked about the tree. When you raise your energy, when you climb those branches up to the rooftop, you become someone that sees from up above. Up there, you attract other things that live on that level: birds, sunshine, wind, fruit! Things that you don't receive down below. Does that make sense?
The thoughts that you have and send out to the world are returning to you.
Let's keep going with this height concept. Now you are a hot air balloon over the ocean; each thought that you have determines your direction. When you think positively, it's like filling up that balloon! You rise. And as you rise, you are able to see these lovely, lovely things: the sunset, the sunrise, the surfers, and the mountains in all of their glory.
Sometimes it happens in crazy, crazy ways. Last night, I was out taking Moo for a run and recording a voice memo of everything I wanted to touch on in this blog post, like a podcast episode. I told this manifestation story:
There's this sweet, sweet boy that I'm friends with. His mom is somehow even sweeter. When the windshield wipers flew off of my car, she had him call me, ask me what happened, and then insisted that she would buy me new ones and have her husband install them for me. An angel isn't she? Well a few years ago, she had this unshakable desire for a soft, sweet, little white bunny. She would think about it all the time and do little manifestation techniques. All of the sudden, the opportunity presented itself to her and she found her little white bunny. It had the exact personality she'd dreamt it would and boy, oh boy, did she love that bunny. I was telling this story in my memo and right in front of my car, a bunny ran. That is the law of attraction. When you think about something, it is attracted to you. It appears in your life more and more. It's not like I see bunnies all the time. The last one I encountered was in December, and before that I hadn't seen any in ages. Yet, just as I was telling a story about them, one appeared right in front of me.
Not only does positivity attract positivity, but bunnies attract bunnies. What you spend your time thinking about returns to you whether a kind of energy, an item, a concept, or any other kind of thought. Here's an example for you. I have a lovely friend that's in love with love. It's all he thinks about each and every day. It's all he talks about. And he falls in love with every girl that he encounters. Up until just a moment ago, he would go on at least one first date every week. But rarely ever any seconds. These sparks always burn out in one of two ways:
1. the girl ghosts him "boo!"
2. or cancels on him "yooooouuuu're out!"
He's very sweet and wonderful, but more often than not, lives in a state of scarcity instead of a state of abundance. To attract abundance into your life, you must be thinking and feeling abundant already. This boy, Davey, is always saying things like "I wish I had a girlfriend" and "If I had a girlfriend I would be so good to her! I'd bring her flowers all the time, give her massages," yada, yada, yada. And you know what? He really would. He is such a sweet, sweet fella. But your thoughts and energies are like signals. They leave your body and then boomerang back to you. By wishing for a girlfriend, he reminds the laws of nature that he doesn't have one, and those thoughts and energies, as promised, return to him. He continues to not have a girlfriend.
"Love comes when you aren't looking for it," people say it all the time because it happens all the time. People go out searching for their baby and come back empty handed. Then after they've decided to spend their time focusing on something else or they've just given up, their baby strolls right in. If you go out there looking and wishing, saying these kinds of things that present the idea that you are lacking in x's and o's, you vibrate at a level of lack of love. When you stop worrying, wanting, or simply thinking about romance, you stop sending out any sort of thought--including scarce thoughts. By ending the cycle of scarcity, relationships are no longer kept from you. But wait, there's more...
...with abundant thoughts, you can attract love into your life! Think of it at a scale from 1-10. 1 is scarcity. Thoughts like "I wish I had (fill in the blank)," and "I don't have what it takes to (fill in the blank)" are at the bottom: 1. At the 5, is detachment, the sweet spot where you aren't thinking in scarcity or abundance, and are focused on something else, instead. At a 5, you are detached from desire and focused on the present. At a 10, you are actively manifesting. Instead of I wish and if I had, you say I am grateful for and I have. That may sound batso crazy, but stay with me. This is a piece of the law of attraction called "act as if." It can be written, spoken, thought, or imagined. And the reason it works is that the laws of nature that bring thoughts into reality don't know the difference rely on feelings.
If you imagine yourself putting on a cute, new shirt, looking in the mirror and feeling the material between your fingers, the laws of nature don't know that you're not actually wearing that shirt. They think that you really are trying on a cherry colored blouse and cutting off the tags, so they're going to continue sending you whatever you need to buy that blouse (for what they think would be the second time). That's because they continually, constantly give whatever you imagine, but only if you act as if you already have it. You have to feel as if it's already in your grasp, because the laws don't understand desire. They only reciprocate energy. And when you feel as if you abundantly have something, they believe you, and make that feeling a physical reality. It's magic. And it's real.
Ever heard of Jim Carrey's story about pursuing a career in acting? He was a strugglin' fella, just trying to make it. And he started using what's called visualization by going up Mulholland Drive and envisioning himself living his dream life. He also wrote a $10 million dollar check dated the following Thanksgiving and kept it in his wallet, where he would see it all the time. By Thanksgiving, he found out that he would earn $10 million dollars from his role in the movie Dumb and Dumber. This is what act as if looks like. It's like playing pretend. It's like daydreaming. When you imagine yourself in a situation, you attract it! Isn't that so wild?
It's pretty clear now that the LOA revolves around feelings, so you've got to be able to recognize what you are feeling. Know the feeling behind every thought and action. And if this is the beginning of your journey, if this is that point that separates the two acts of your life, this may take some time, but rest assured that you can become a royal feeler. I started act two when I was fifteen years old; last night I opened up my purple journal and found the exact time of the switch. It was the Fourth of July when I wrote, "On Saturday evening, I watched this video from a girl named Claire Michelle. She's a hippie and her story is amazing, and she's positive about everything, and I'm trying to be like her because she's so happy." That day, the LOA was introduced to me. It found a cozy little corner in my mind and took a long nap, waking up now and then and catching my attention, but it wasn't until just under a year later that I completely dove into it, and quickly reached the point where if a negative thought entered my mind, I instantly recognized it and reframed it with a positive outlook.

Those were transfers of energy. And transfers of energy are how you attract positive things into your life--by filling your mind with happy, abundant thoughts, raising your energy, and being positive. You are what you eat? You are what you think and feel. Feel good. Make sure that your thoughts are coming from a positive feeling--whether that's hope, gratitude, peace, joy, excitement, or love. This is how you build a happy and wonderful life. Now you know. You are responsible for your own happiness. You have the power to create your own dream life.
This is only an introduction to the Law of Attraction. If you hadn't heard of it yet, you know now. There's so much more to it that we can dive into, but we'll just start right here. If you feel inspired, try it. Let there be something that you want --something tiny-- and think about it with warm feelings-- often; believe in it, and bring it to you. If you truly do believe without a seed of doubt, it will work. I promise.

Find what calls to you. It's really, really everywhere. I hope you loved this. I'm telling you right now that it's true. It's undeniably, scientifically--yet magically and wonderfully, the way that things work. You are in control of your life. You can have everything that you've ever wanted. Thanks for contributing to this lovely world. Have a wonderful morning, afternoon, evening, or night :-)
